Can’t stop thinking about crystals?  You’re not alone.  There is a strange phenomenon that occurs once you feel a connection to the stones.  I’m not quite sure what to call it or why it happens.  All I can say is welcome to the wonderful world of crystals!

You’ve taken the first step in working with the energy of stones simply by showing an interest. What’s next?

There’s no right or wrong way to work with crystals – you can’t mess this up! You have all you need within you, so don’t overthink it.

Common assumption crystal newbies make is believing there’s a right or wrong way to work with crystals. I’m going to let you in on a little well-known secret, there is no right – nor wrong – way when working with crystals.  As long as your intention is pure and coming from a place of light and love you will benefit from crystal energy.

Another crystal newbie occurrence is reading into the meaning of everything.  Seeking explanation and validation for every. single. nuance. or occurrence as a sign from the ‘powers that be’.  These newbie presumptions happen to everyone, including myself.  They in no way reflect poorly on your ability to work with the stones.

There is indeed mystique and reverence about crystals that make us want to do right by them.

The best way to not overthink things is to go with your first thought, first impression.  A good rule of thumb is to select a stone you are feeling drawn to.  Feeling drawn to a crystal could mean any number of things.  Perhaps you like the color, shape or sparkle of the crystal – or maybe you were literally feeling pulled toward the stone – it doesn’t matter which.  Don’t question or overthink it.  The how’s and why’s will reveal themselves in time.

By going with your first thought, first impression you are beginning the process of developing your intuition.  I refer to this as tapping in.  Trust the process.  Everyone has the ability to tap into their intuition.  You’ve got this, trust your gut!

Trusting your gut and selecting the stone you are drawn to is part of the first thought, first impression process. The crystal you’re meant to work with is the first stone that caught your eye and piqued interest.  There’s no need to complicate or over think things.

I often recommend finding a quiet place to sit with the stone.  Holding it in one hand for a few minutes – and switching the stone to the other hand for a few minutes.  Take notice of how you feel when you are holding the stone.  Does the stone feel different in the right hand versus the left? Observe how your body feels, do you feel off-kilter or calm and supported?  Now take whichever hand the stone feels most comfortable in and guide it down your body starting at the top of your head and moving down toward your feet.  Observe any sensations you feel.  Making notes in a journal is a nice way to keep track of your experience.

These simple steps: don’t overthink it – first thought, first impression – trust your gut are the way to connect to the energy of the crystals.  Tapping into the healing benefit of the stones need not be complicated.  Trust and enjoy the process.  You rock!
